Animal Shelter

Our Animal Shelter provides a safe temporary home for dogs and cats while they wait for new families to adopt them. There is no maximum holding period and some pets have been with us as long as six months before finding just the right family. All Shelter animals are treated for fleas and ticks, wormed, vaccinated and spayed or neutered before going to their new homes.

The Shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are closed to the public on Sundays, Mondays and Public Holidays.

Construction of the Animal Shelter was completed in 1999 thanks to a building materials grant received from the RSPCA and the provision of labour by Antigua & Barbuda’s Department of Public Works.

Unfortunately life on the beach isn’t always this easy. Strays often go hungry, are chased away and have no opportunity to form a lasting bond with humans. The Humane Society prefers to bring these animals in to the Shelter and find them permanent homes.
